There are many times we are dealing with so many different things in life and we may come to a place where it gets difficult or it may be too much pressure. Raul believes clients can learn to process and "put things on the table" so they can begin to reframe whatever they've learned that has not been working for them so they can begin to alleviate that pressure. Clients can get motivated to look at their values and begin setting short-term goals that can be applied to their daily stressors. Raul is focused on working with what fits best for the client and hopes that clients will become more aware of what they need to help them forward. Raul specializes in anger issues, trauma counseling, addiction counseling, grief/loss counseling, and couples counseling. In his practice, he uses a person centered approach to build a therapeutic relationship, that is, understanding the client from their perspective. In addition, he uses strength-based counseling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Raul believes that clients can process any issue given the time and understanding in a safe space to process where they are strong. His goal is to encourage and work with clients in areas where people sometimes repeat the same negative patterns of thinking. Raul finds the importance of challenging clients to move beyond the same cycle of negative thinking is absolutely essential. Clients can then learn and apply what they need to move forward from the place they have been stuck in for a while.

Raul became a counselor to help bring clients to a better awareness through communication and help bring them insight into their strengths. Raul believes everyone has the capacity to move forward from any kind of negative situation or trauma.

Clients can expect the initial intake session to be a listening session so they understand they will be understood from their perspective and the personal situations they have been through without judgment. During the first few sessions, Raul will be focusing on the importance of the therapeutic alliance. As therapy progresses, Raul will work on areas that may need some reframing and bring up solutions that may need practice toward adjustment.

Raul utilizes evidence-based interventions and modalities that include Strength-based counseling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and the dialectics of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
