Distinctive Play Workshop Wednesday

Sticky Situations in the Playroom:

Ethical Dilemmas, Cultural Dynamics, and Clinical Responses

March 26th, 12 pm - 2 pm

Working with children can be unpredictable. This presentation will explore those sometimes sticky situations in the playroom. Children bring all of who they are and everything they experience into the play process. Each child has a unique set of family norms, cultural expectations, and socioeconomic position, and this diversity is essential to acknowledge and consider when responding to the child in the play therapy process.  Our goal is an ethically relevant and thoughtful clinical response supported by our therapeutic model. As a therapist, sometimes thinking on your feet and having the ‘perfect’ answer is difficult.
