Paul Martinez, MS, LPC, LCDC, EMDR Trained Therapist

Paul Martinez is currently accepting new clients at private pay rates or through insurances. He is eligible to see clients who are insured through Tricare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Sheild, Aetna, United Healthcare, and Cigna. 

In 2019, Paul earned a Masters of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Communication earned at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2017. Paul is dually licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. He is EMDR Trained through Compassion Works.

Paul believes every person possesses the ability to overcome and persevere through life’s challenges and stressors. Paul has experience working with adolescents and adults with diverse issues to include depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use and abuse, LGBTQ+ issues, and grief and loss. In addition, Paul has experience working with individuals with various disabilities (Hearing Impairment/Vision Impairment/Physical Impairment). Paul is a person who has a disability (Vision Impairment), which has allowed him to reach a personal awareness of the unique needs and accommodations individuals with disabilities need to help them live a life filled with independence and equality.

As a counselor, Paul uses a Humanistic approach demonstrating empathy, genuineness, acceptance, and unconditional positive regard to all his clients with a focus on developing a strong therapeutic relationship to help clients meet their goals in counseling. In addition, Paul uses an integrative therapeutic approach that has been informed through his training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing to help adapt and adjust to the unique needs of his diverse clients. Outside of work Paul enjoys his self-care workouts at the gym, watching movies and sports, and his occasional skydiving jumps whenever he wants to enjoy a thrill.
