Carla Vasquez, MS, LPC, Certified Sandtray Therapist

Carla Vasquez-Angeles is a licensed professional counselor, Institute of Play Therapy- Certified Sandtray Therapist, and completed the Play Therapy Training Program at Old Dominion University in Virginia. Ms. Carla has worked within the social services field in South Texas for over 15 years at local county, state, federal, and non-profit agencies. She works with children and families that are in transition, experiencing a stressor, or at times, just need a little extra support. During this time, she spends with children in the play therapy room, Ms. Carla is inspired by their inner strength and natural direction to process and organize their world through play and art. As a child and family therapist, she becomes both a witness and a partner in this process of developing and supporting a child and their family in a greater understanding of a child’s emotions, strengths, and skills to facilitate co-regulation. Outside of the therapy room, Ms. Carla is involved in education and advocacy. She has a doctorate in education focused on the study of how individuals' ways of knowing have been influenced by their cultural identities, cultural values, and formal and informal educational agencies. Additionally, Ms. Carla is a Military Family Advisory Network Advisor and community special education advocate.
