Richard believes that every individual, marriage, and family has their own story that comes with unique challenges and difficulties. These difficulties can lead to frustration and unwanted stress in life that can be difficult to navigate alone. Richard actively works to create the space to work through life’s difficulties. Richard believes there is no one-size-fits all approach to counseling and is comfortable in many theoretical approaches. However, he mainly utilizes the theoretical approaches of Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family Systems Therapy. Richard is Gottman Level I certified and utilizes this approach when working with couples. When not working, Richard enjoys spending time with his family, watching or playing sports or anything he can find that keeps him active.
