Mirakal M. McGill is currently accepting new clients at a reduced/discounted rate under the supervision of Board Approved Supervisor Jinnelle V. Powell, MS, LPC-S.
Mirakal earned her Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. In addition to her master’s degree, she is certified in Mental Health First Aid through the City of Corpus Christi Learning Institute. Mirakal also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Media Production earned at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
Matriculating through her experience at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital, Mirakal counseled individuals fighting substance abuse, along with those suffering with bipolar, anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. She also provided counseling services to victims of violent crimes and domestic abuse, as well as the police officers at the Corpus Christi Police Department through the Victims Advocacy division, as they navigated their way through difficult and sometimes traumatic events.
Mirakal takes pride in displaying compassion, empathy, and a positive regard for the well-being of the clients with the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and other approaches suitable to protect and provide a safe environment for effective and appropriate therapeutic counseling. Mirakal believes that, no matter what their current or past problem may be or what position in life, everyone deserves to enjoy the peace of mental health wellness.
Outside of work, Mirakal takes care of her own mental health by working out, church activities and watching movies. Mirakal is dependable and will perform with the utmost level of pride and professionalism by dedicating herself to the principles and ethical conduct required of a counselor. She is looking forward to serving the citizens of the community and being an advocate for mental health wellness.
