Clara Jobe, MS, LPC Associate

I am looking forward to helping you reach your goals by working together. I am currently accepting new clients and provide services under the supervision of Board Approved Supervisors Julie Thigpen, MS, LPC-S, RPT-S and Jinnelle V. Powell, PhD, LPC-S at a discounted/reduced fee. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in my life and I enjoy helping others. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi with a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work earned in 2017. I have experience working with couples and families with various desires such as: resolving conflicts, exploring communication barriers, reestablishing connection, affection, and family rituals together. I also have experience working with early adolescents, adolescents, and adults with diverse issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, substance use and abuse, and grief and loss. I enjoy helping others find hidden pieces about themselves, exploring them, and putting those pieces together to become whole. I believe every client is on a different journey and has different goals they wish to accomplish. You do not have to do this alone.

I believe a lot of who we are today has been shaped by previous life experiences that can go as far back as early childhood. I recognize that in some cultures, seeking counseling (or help) could be considered a weakness. I believe it is more of a strength because it shows a willingness to overcome. As a counselor, I use a Humanistic approach to demonstrating empathy, genuineness, and acceptance. I focus on developing a strong therapeutic relationship to help clients meet their goals in counseling. I am Gottman Level I certified and utilize this approach when working with couples. When working with families, I use Family Systems therapy. Additionally, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques, and teach coping skills, along with, providing goal-driven handouts to enhance the therapy process. When not working, I like to ride my bicycle, watch a good movie, bowl, spend time with family and friends, and be productive. Over the last couple of years, she has also provided support to families by providing training in Conscious Discipline that helps adults support and teach self-regulation skills to their young children.
